Disturbing Video Shows Instant Officers Suffer Blade Attacks in Ambush

Both Senior Officers Moments Prior to the Attacker Was Tasered

A police sergeant who jumped to the help of a fellow officer that got attacked by a blade-wielder received the Royal Recognition for Bravery.

Sergeant Tim Ansell struggled against 27-yr-old Jacob Brown following he held a blade to the neck of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the officers and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a driver following a traffic accident in Whalley Range in mid-2023.

Brown knifed and cut the two Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a Taser.

"Policeman stabbed," the officer was heard to say over his radio.

Officer-mounted and dashboard camera recording shared by the force depicted Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a hood up, approach to Sergeant Foster from behind with a blade pointed forward.

He ran into the policeman who lost balance and fell to the ground, before Sgt Ansell jumped in and attempted to subdue him to the pavement despite being continually attacked with the knife.

Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and waited for a open target, concluding the confrontation to an end.

Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "Please provide assistance on my neck here, I've been stabbed in the throat."

Sgt Ansell sustained multiple open wounds to his throat and additional injuries to his arms and body, whereas Sergeant Foster experienced cut injuries.

Officials said Sergeant Foster utilized his palms to stem his fellow officer's blood loss prior to emergency responders came.

The new recognition comes subsequent to the law enforcement team received organizational Bravery Awards in fall 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the local union branch in early 2024.

They additionally received a North West Bravery Award in summer 2024.

"The responses of all three officers in the end saved themselves and ensured no civilians suffered any wounds."

Brown received a sentence to an psychiatric detention in spring 2024, per the department.
