Rise, Sir David: Football Legend Honoured by King Charles at Royal Windsor Ceremony

David Beckham was bestowed with a honorary title at the historic royal residence on Tuesday. The ex-national team leader, fifty, was one of the individuals receiving awards for his services to sport and philanthropy. Earlier this year, he expressed he was “immensely proud” of being recognised in the monarch's annual honors list.

Soccer Achievements

The player made his Premier League debut for Manchester United in 1995 and was a key member that earned a thrilling Champions League final victory in the late nineties when they defeated Bayern Munich with two late goals.

In total, he scored eighty-five scores and garnered accolades including multiple English championships and two FA Cups as a footballer, before ending his playing career in 2013. Alongside his football career, he has supported a variety of philanthropic initiatives, including acting as a goodwill ambassador for global aid group Unicef since 2005.

Philanthropy and Beyond

In the previous year, the sports star, who has described himself as a “devoted monarchist”, was appointed an ambassador for the King’s Foundation, an educational charity founded by the monarch in the early nineties. In the late nineties he was declared top fashion icon by GQ magazine and he has modelled for companies such as H&M, Armani, and Boss.

David married his wife Victoria in 1999 and the pair have a family of four kids together – their eldest, Romeo, the third child, and their daughter.
